The DOW....Last-minute gift ideas: DENVER -- If you're looking for some last-minute, low-cost gift ideas for the outdoor enthusiast in your family, the Colorado Division of Wildlife offers great gifts at its offices throughout the state, and at its online store:"Hunters and anglers stay involved in their activities year around," said Debbie Lininger, marketing coordinator for the DOW. "We offer a variety of gifts on our web site for sportsmen, sportswomen and kids."

For the gift that keeps on giving year-around, get a subscription to Colorado Outdoors. The popular magazine features articles on hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, DOW law enforcement cases, great photography and much more. A one-year subscription that includes six issues, plus the hunting and fishing guides is just $13; $22.50 for a two-year subscription.


A variety of books provide tips on hunting and fishing, wildlife watching, Colorado birds and reptiles, and even wildlife history. A cookbook provides tried-and-true wild game meat recipes.

Several DVD titles focus on fly fishing, elk hunting and an overview of Colorado's wildlife.

A selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, stocking hats and ball caps is also offered. For the collector in your family, pick up one of the sew-on patches that feature Colorado wildlife.

Hunting and fishing licenses for 2011 don't go on sale until March 15, but you can let your family and friends know your intention of buying them a license with a note in a card.
