Gazan boy drowns after Israeli navy firing: Gaza, December 18, (Pal Telegraph) -A Palestinian teenager fishing off the coast of Rafah, in south of the Gaza Strip, on Friday drowned after firing by the Israel navy, midical sources and witnesses said.
Adham Abu Selmiya, a spokesman for Gaza’s health services, said “Zeyad El-Bardawil, 16, died after Israelis pursued his boat at sea”
The Israeli navy opened fire on fishing boats off the coast of Rafah when one of the boats overturned and the teenager drowned, witnesses said.
The boy was fishing with a group of his relatives when the fishing boats were pursued by a navy patrol boat, the witnesses said.
The IOF early Saturday morning denied reports that an Israeli navy caused the death of a 16-year-old Palestinian working on a fishing boat, Israeli Army Radio reported.
Israeli gunboats stationed in the waters of Gaza target Palestinian fishing boats on a daily basis, claiming that they sail beyond the allowed distance of three miles.
