Eagle Nest Lake opens for ice fishing

EAGLE NEST, N.M. (AP) - Eagle Nest Lake in northern New Mexico has opened to ice fishing.

The Department of Game and Fish and the State Parks Division said there was about 12 inches of ice on most areas of the lake and that made it safe for foot traffic. Ice fishing stared Saturday.

However, snowmobiles and other vehicles are still prohibited on the lake.

The state agencies said the ice thickness will be monitored and the lake could close if conditions deteriorate.

Information about ice conditions is available by calling Eagle Nest Lake State Park, 575-377-1594.Read More ...
