when governor visits area It won't be all fishing fun

There's no guarantee Gov. Mark Dayton will keep warm when he attends the Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Fishing Extravaganza but he'll certainly keep moving if he adheres to the schedule that was announced Wednesday.

The governor, who is scheduled to make his first visit to Brainerd since his election, will make the 34-minute flight from St. Paul and arrive at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport at 8:35 a.m. Saturday. He'll be at S &W Bait Shop to purchase a license at 9:15 a.m. From there the governor is scheduled to appear at a tourism roundtable discussion at 9:45 a.m. at Iven's on the Bay restaurant.

Dayton is scheduled to arrive at Hole-in-the-Day Bay on Gull Lake at 11:25 a.m. He will record a radio broadcast and talk with reporters, including an interview with the CBS "Early Morning Show."

Fishing begins at noon and the governor will move to several fishing stops. At 1:15 p.m. he'll be transported to the event headquarters on the lake and make a closing radio broadcast. Dayton is scheduled to leave Gull Lake by 1:30 p.m.Read More ...
