Fishing Northwest Reel Time (Two tributaries above Bonneville Dam open March 16, but don't expect much action early on)


The Wind River and Drano Lake will open for spring chinook March 16 with a daily limit of two chinook.

Expect fishing to be slow at first since only 17 fish have passed Bonneville Dam through March 4.

The Columbia mainstem from Bonneville Dam to Oregon/Washington Border - Effective March 16 through April 24, open to fishing for hatchery-marked chinook, hatchery-marked steelhead and shad. Bank fishing only from Bonneville Dam to Tower Island power lines located about six miles below The Dalles Dam. Up to two adult chinook or steelhead or one of each may be kept daily. Only hatchery-marked chinook and steelhead may be kept.

Anglers should be aware that March 15 is the last day to fish for steelhead on Abernathy, Cedar (Clark County), Germany, Mill (Cowlitz), Rock (Skamania), Salmon (Clark) creeks, and on the Coweeman, Elochoman, Grays, East Fork Lewis and Washougal rivers.
