its topwater time. So on calmer days I'd hit the flats, targeting depths of about three foot with your favorite plugs for large trout. If you're getting blowups but not hooking up, then switch to soft plastics in the same area.

Later, try for redfish, using an eighth-ounce gold spoon in about 12 inches of water near the spoil islands off Laguna Shores Road. They might hit topwaters also if floating grass is not a problem.

Wow, this wind. But the fishing has been really good. I'd start out looking for redfish and using live finger mullet or cut shad. Try scattering about a cup of menhaden oil in the bay wherever you fish. Sometimes this seems to get a bite started. When anchored up, use free-lined cut shad (menhaden) in Estes flats or up tight against the backside of St. Joe Island to escape the wind. Also look for schools of black drum mostly along windy shorelines. I'd throw free-lined live shrimp at them.
