Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sharif C. Sutardjo who is also Chairman of the Council of Ministers CTI-CFF with the minister of state members of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral-Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) this weekend officially confirmed the permanent regional secretariat in Indonesia. Cicip also added that Indonesia as the host of the Permanent Secretariat will soon finalize Regional cooperation of member countries CTI-CFF. "One of Indonesia's commitment is to build the next House Permanent Secretariat of the Regional CTI-CFF in Manado, North Sulawesi," he said.
Approval of the establishment of permanent regional secretariat confirmed after the signing of the Joint Ministerial Statement of CTI-CFF member countries at the ministerial meeting of the 3rd (the 3rd Ministerial Meeting) CTI-CFF. With the enactment of a permanent regional secretariat, then the country will soon prepare documents nggota establishment of permanent regional secretariat. While this process is running, while the existing regional secretariat in Indonesia continue to implement the Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) and each country will also continue to accelerate the implementation of the National Plan of Action (NPoA) CTI-CFF in order to accelerate programs that have been set together .
In this ministerial meeting produced three important agreements. First, the approval of the legal document establishing a permanent regional secretariat of the CTI-CFF. Second, permanent regional secretariat was given greater authority, so it will strengthen its status as an entity of international law (International Legal Entity). Third, a good strong support from donor countries, namely the United States and Australia and partners such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Global Environment Facility (GEF), WWF, TNC, and CI.
In a statement, the ministers of state members and partners deliver high appreciation to the leadership of Indonesia in the CTI-CFF who has managed to facilitate a variety of programs and activities since 2009, including facilitation of meetings between community stakeholders in the conservation of coral reefs and food security. CTI-CFF partner countries also committed themselves to further enhance financial support and capacity building, and even Australia has delivered additional assistance.
Prior to execution of a ministerial meeting to-3 (3rd Ministerial Meeting) on Friday (28/10), Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has opened a State-Level Meeting of Senior Officials (Senior Official Meeting) to CTI-CFF-7 held on 25-26 October 2011 in the same place and also attended by member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste) and CTI-CFF donor organizations, such as America and Australia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , Conservation International (CI), The Nature Conservation (TNC), and the World Wild Fund (WWF) as the partner NGOs....
