The areas reopen for Saltwater fishing

South Sound anglers will have more saltwater fishing options beginning Tuesday when salmon fishing reopens in Marine Area 11 (Tacoma) and 12 (Hood Canal).

The season in both areas runs through April 30. Chinook must be a minimum of 22 inches long before they can be kept. All wild chinook must be released. There is no minimum size for other salmon species. The daily limit is two fish.

Marine Area 11 extends from the northern tip of Vashon Island to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Commencement Bay, east of a line from the Cliff House Restaurant on north shore through Sperry Ocean Dock, is closed through March 31.

Fishing in Marine Area 13, south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, will stay open until April 30 as well. The daily limit is one fish in this area.
