Okhotsk Sea to free ice-locked vessels in Operation resumes


With the improvement of weather conditions, on Monday night Russian icebreakers resumed the operation to conduct the transport refrigerator vessel "Coast of Hope", ice-locked in the Okhotsk Sea.

Possibly, the refrigerator will be taken to clear waters before the end of the day, reports RIA Novosti news agency.

On January 20 due to bad weather and strong ice contraction the active phase of the operation to free the fishing vessels from ice captivity was suspended.

“The caravan is proceeding with good speed - about 11 knots. It’s just another 38 miles to the ice edge. Presumably, on Monday afternoon the icebreakers will succeed in releasing the refrigerator vessel from ice captivity", - said a representative of Far Eastern Shipping Tatyana Kulikova.Read More ...
