Settlement reached in boat accident that killed 2
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — An insurance company has agreed to pay the survivors of an Indiana woman and her grandson $2 million in a settlement over a fatal boat accident on Lake Monroe.
The WTHR-TV reports Friday that the family has agreed not to seek civil legal action against 19-year-old Winston Wood.
Investigators determined that both boaters were to blame in the crash on the southern Indiana lake.
Wood was operating a ski boat which collided head-on last June with a fishing boat carrying 51-year-old Susan Collier of Bedford and 8-year-old Gage Pruitt of Williams.
Collier's husband and two other grandchildren were on their boat.
Wood was charged with two counts of leaving a boating accident resulting in death and one count of leaving a crash with serious injury.
