Wahoo Location
When hunting the waters for any type of fish, you want to assure that you are in the right location for that species. With the Wahoo, they frequent several different areas of the sea. On the one hand, many fishing experts in search of Tuna and Marlin on the Gulf of Mexico have informed us that there are many schools of Wahoo that also reside there.
Wahoo can also be found in between Virginia and South America, along with the Caribbean and the Mediterranean Sea. However, it should be noted that in the Southern United States, the Wahoo tend to frequent areas such as the Carolinas and Louisiana. For instance, last year the Wahoo were for the most part being caught in Louisiana, as fishermen reported catching one Wahoo every five hours.
Is There A Specific Season To Catch Wahoo? – The Wahoo breeding season takes place during a six month time frame, from May to October. During the breeding season, it is suggested that fishing enthusiasts travel to the areas mentioned in the location section, in order to catch multiple Wahoo.
Wahoo fishing Tackle
Wahoo vary in size, so it is important to have the right type of fishing rod and wire. For example, smaller Wahoo, such as the 50 pound Wahoo, require fishers to use a longer rod with a shorter wire. Our suggestion is to purchase a Lurestreet Yahoowahoo rod, which is a long rigger. In years past, literally hundreds of 50 pound Wahoo have charged towards these types of rods during Wahoo season.
On the other hand we also suggest purchasing the Wellsys Medium Turbo Jet short rigger for the bigger Wahoo that weigh in at 75 pounds. A smaller yet sturdier rod such as this tends to be easier to manipulate when reeling in a heavier fish.Read More ...
