Gibson Memorial tours set for March 5
SAN ANGELO, Texas — More than $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded at the Suddenlink Tony Gibson Memorial Fishing Tournament set for March 5 at the Concho Pavilion on Lake O.H. Ivie in Millersview. Proceeds from the event will aid Hospice of San Angelo's mission to serve area families coping with terminal illness.
The Suddenlink tournament, now in its third year, was renamed last year in memory of avid fisherman and San Angelo Bass Club member Tony Gibson. Gibson was a winner at the 2009 tournament. He received care from Hospice of San Angelo before he died in October 2009.
Entrants 17 and older will compete for a first-place cash prize of $2,200. First prizes in the 16-and-under category will be a $300 gift certificate provided by Field & Streams Sporting Goods.
To benefit Hospice of San Angelo, the 2011 tournament is being presented by Suddenlink Communications, in partnership with the San Angelo Bass Club. Bank and Trust will serve as an Elite sponsor. Major sponsors include AEP Texas, Aurora Networks, Cal Tech, Dean's Marine, Field & Streams, Horizon Billboards, Goodyear Proving Grounds, Mr. Insurance, Pace, Skeeter Performance Fishing Boats, Spring Creek Products, SMC and Suddenlink Business. More than two dozen other local businesses also are supporting the tournament.
