Indonesia’s fisheries industry is expecting to fall short of its US$ 3.2 billion target for fish and prawn exports, as current statistics show that it has only achieved less than half of the targeted amount.
“We have only managed around 40-45 percent (of the target),” Indonesian Fisheries Product Processing and Marketing Association chairman Thomas Darmawan said on Thursday, as quoted by tempo.co.
He blamed the lack of exports on the slump in production due to extreme weather conditions and inadequate fishery infrastructure.
“Our achievement remains stagnant and we haven't seen significant progress,” he said.... READ MORE
