How to Attach Weights to a Fishing Line

Video Transcript

"Alright how to attach weights to a fishing pole. Split shots is the most common type of weight found in freshwater fishing. The way you're going to want to attach these to your pole is leave about a foot, foot and a half from your hook, the split shots will be have a little opening at the top part, you want to put that on the line and then pinch it down between your thumb and your first finger, it'll secure it to the line like that. Sometimes you'll want to put on two, in that case just right below or above the first one, do the same thing with your second weight. If you're taking them off, split shots have a little dovetail at the back end and you just want to pinch that and it'll release the weight from the line. Another common style of singer in fishing is the bank sinker. This one here is a 5 ounce but they come in small sizes that is 16th of an ounce. The best way to attach these to your line is just to go to the bottom, go to the very end of your line, make a very simple overhand loop then once you've done that, just fold it over, place it through the end of the sinker, pull it out and just go right around the bottom like that."
