Marron fishing breaches Fines issued
Four people fishing for marron in Western Australia's south-west and on the south coast have been fined so far this season.
Steve Embling from the Department of Fisheries says the fines were issued for the use of illegal gear and catching undersize marron.
"Just to the south-west are down to about Albany we've issued about four fines for illegal gear which was mostly the use of illegal traps and a couple of fines for a few undersize," he said.
Mr Embling says it has been a slower start to the season because dam levels have been down.
"Catches were down probably a little bit on averages, particularly on the dams, places like Wellington Dam and some of the other smaller dams had fairly low water levels which restricted the amount of water people could get to easily," he said.
The marron season finishes on Saturday, February 5.Read More ...
