Mourns brothers Family lost in fishing accident

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Amanda Hill and Lisa Furr clutch pictures of their two nephews--Adam and BJ Abrams. "They were wonderful boys," says Hill.

The brothers went out for a routine fishing trip--something Hill and Furr say the boys loved to do. They never imagined the pair would never come back.
In fact, when they heard the news of their deaths, they didn't believe it.
"It wasn't true. It wasn't them, that they had mistaken them for somebody else. It wasn't them," says Hill referring to when she heard the boys drowned.
"She [Hill] called me and all I could say was, 'oh my god what happened?' I was totally shocked," says Furr.
Authorities say Adam and BJ died when their boat overturned on Strickland lake in Autaugaville.

Marine police searched the water for two days eventually finding their bodies. And it's not the first time this family has experienced tragedy. In the last 5 years, they've lost 6 family members--including the boys' mother, who was murdered in Montgomery in 2006.
"Sometimes you feel like it's too much to bear, ya know, you just don't know how to get through it. But somehow we do," says Hill.

Family members say the boys were always in a good mood, and there if someone needed them.
Now, they're hoping that same spirit carries them through the tough days ahead.
"We know they're looking down on us now and smiling and just telling us that everything's going to be alright," adds Hill.
If the tragedy isn't enough loved ones say they don't even have enough money to bury the brothers. They're asking anyone who can help to donate to a fund set up in the boys' names.
If you'd like to donate, the family says the account is set up at Prattville's RBC Bank. You can contact the bank at 358-3301 for more information.Read More ...
