The European Fisheries Fund (EFF) programme has replaced the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG), which closed to new applications in 2007.The EFF programme, like FIFG, will be targeted to assist with capital investment in the aquaculture, fishing and fish processing industries. The programme can also support strategic trade initiatives, fisheries dependent communities and Scottish Government and European Community policy initiatives for the sustainable development of fisheries.Scotland has secured an allocation of approximately €23.49 million for the Highlands and Islands and around €75.04 million for the rest of Scotland. The sterling value of the programme varies according to the euro exchange rate.

Eligible applicants will include individuals, companies, trade and public bodies that have a direct interest in commercial fisheries.Next Round of AwardsThe closing date for applications for the next round of awards will be 09 December 2011. Applications submitted by the closing date will be considered by the Project Assessment Committee in March 2012.Since the launch of the European Fisheries Fund programme in September 2008 the Scottish Government has committed over 60% of the funds available.Last Round of AwardsFor the last round of awards, applications for grant requesting some £14.4million of assistance were considered....
